This step is free – it doesn’t require spending any money, or placing any orders. You’re not buying anything for it. Sunshine is your best dose of Vitamin D and antidepressant you can get. We even named a diagnosis from a lack of it – Seasonal Affective Disorder or S.A.D. for short when sunlight shortens in the colder seasons.
Make a connection
We spend so much of our time in autopilot of the rat race that we don’t realize there are benefits to what nature offers us. Racing the clock from the moment it goes off in the morning, to out the door and on the go to work, that we miss that window. A chance to pause in the sunlight absorbing the connection to the light and balancing our Circadian Rhythm at the same time. Ten minutes – can you give yourself ten minutes to stop, and look up at the skyline, hear the birds, and take time to feel gratitude? Just a few times a week can lead to a big difference – in your mood, your sleep, and your productivity.
What we do instead
Recently experts started linking Vitamin D deficiency with Dementia, all while most of us lack our time in the sun. And when we do spend time in the sun, we lather on strong sunscreen that blocks it from our skin – the biggest organ we have. Instead of absorbing Vitamin D, we’re absorbing chemicals that may lead to the very thing we’re trying to prevent, along with other long term consequences.
You don’t need hours laying out in the sun, loaded with coconut oil. Just ten minutes with the sun (and a smile) on your face and it will add to the light within your heart and soul.
The choice is up to you
Yes, you could go to the doctor’s and get another pill (or 2 or 3) but you’ll still be missing the whole connection. In order to be light – you need light. We can’t pour from an empty vessel. Fill yours up and it might just leave you happier, and a bit healthier.
